I’ve done posts on our wedding day timeline, all our vendors, and registry. If you haven’t read those yet, check them out! For this post, I wanted to talk about three things we almost didn’t do, but I’m SO glad we did!
Switched Photographers
You guys! I cannot stress this enough! You have to LOVE the photography you’re going to be getting. When we first started planning, we were super cautious about money. We wanted to make sure we got everything we wanted, but also wanted the price to be reasonable. (AKA cheap!) We were going to be getting a deal on a DJ, Photographer, and Videographer by booking through the same vendor. I knew I wanted all three. I wasn’t willing to budge on not having one of these, so I thought getting a deal on all three was great! The person I was talking to was extremely sales-y and made me feel like I had to make a decision within like a week of looking at all my options. If you don’t know already, weddings are EXPENSIVE. Yes, you hear that all the time, but I don’t think you actually know how expensive they are until you’re about to get married. It’s insane. If you want the average wedding, you’re going to be spending some money. Anyways, after so many calls and thinking this was going to be the only way we could afford to get a DJ, Videographer, and Photographer was booking through this place we did it.
Then, I had to pick which photographer I wanted. I looked at the maybe 5 they had and just didn’t love their pictures. Their editing looked super outdated, so I kept looking for an alternative. I came across this photographer in a group on Facebook. I looked at her pictures and her prices really weren’t believable compared to other photographers. I loved all of her pictures. I told Cam about her. He also really liked her pictures, but because we had already booked we were going to be out some money by cancelling, so he wasn’t so sure. Finally, I was able to convince him. Let me tell you. She was INCREDIBLE. I will recommend her every time. You can check out her website here! We loved her! She’s the sweetest ever!
Dance Lessons
You guys, I have a confession to make. I hate when couples get married, and for their first dance they look like they’re at a school dance rocking back and forth! So, we took dance lessons!! Honestly, they were so much fun! We really looked forward to them each week.
Let me start by saying, Cam was NOT on board with this at the beginning. He did not want to go to dance lessons. After the first one, he actually had fun. We practiced a lot at night. It was just really good and fun quality time together. We weren’t on our phones, we weren’t watching tv, just good quality time together. We usually made it our date night. We went to dinner, then went to dance lessons. We definitely recommend this!
Being Flexible and Open
Usually when you think about a wedding, you think about it being on a Saturday. Well, Saturdays are the most popular days for weddings and venues are well aware, so that is their highest priced day. Be open to getting married on a Friday or a Sunday. Our wedding was on a Sunday. I liked that we were able to see friends and family on Friday and Saturday before the wedding and then leave for our honeymoon right away. It would have also been nice to have it on a Friday, then have a get together, brunch, or barbecue on Saturday and leave on Sunday for the honeymoon. These days are much cheaper at most venues. Laurel Hall was my dream venue. I had been to another wedding there and just fell in love! I assumed it was going to be too much, but we saw all their options and made it on a Sunday and that made it so much more affordable!
I hope these ideas give you some inspiration for planning your wedding!! No matter what, it will be a great time. You are marrying the person you love! Do you have any other tips?? Comment them below! – Chelseigh
